A number of young people are not only looking for employment, but are looking for support to create their own employment opportunities and start up new businesses – and High Position are here to give a helping hand!
Teaming up with Virgin Media Pioneers our Commercial Director, Terry Heffernan, has been selected by Sir Richard Branson to help inspire a generation of entrepreneurs in an effort to kick-start the local economy.
Terry, the new face of Virgin Media Pioneers for the East of England, has been crowned as the Regional Ambassador and will work to promote business start-ups across the region, including Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex. Virgin Media Pioneers is a free, online community for young entrepreneurial talent to connect through a network of peer-to-peer support, ranging from video blogs to professional mentoring and advice from the likes of Terry.
An entrepreneur himself, Terry has a wealth of marketing knowledge and experience from previous roles at big blue-chip organisation Glaxo Smith Kline. He will be one of 12 Ambassadors across the UK hosting a number of seminars for young entrepreneurs, focusing on helping Pioneers get online and taking on the challenges that new business start-ups face.
“Virgin Media Pioneers has made a real difference,” says Terry. “Young people are full of great ideas but don’t always have the know-how or the contacts to make them happen. The Pioneers community can help change that.
“They can meet like-minded people, gain experience and skills and open doors to achieve their dream of running their own business – which is a great way for us to invest in our local area and create jobs.”
Richard Branson, founder and Chairman of the Virgin Group and a ‘Pioneer at Large’ for Virgin Media, said: “There is a huge amount we can do to unlock entrepreneurial potential and Virgin Media Pioneers is enabling young entrepreneurs to fulfil their dreams of owning and managing successful businesses.
“Starting up your own business is a big challenge and many of the obstacles are daunting and, at times, can seem insurmountable. But with the right support and expert advice young entrepreneurs can find their way and Virgin Media Pioneers will be with them every step of the way.”
Terry is also working with a team at High Position to organise and deliver an exciting regional event, open to young entrepreneurs across the region who are keen to learn from, and be inspired by local success stories. Fully supported and funded by Virgin Media Pioneers, this is a great opportunity for the community to maximise entrepreneurial activity and boost the economy.
Details of the regional events will be released shortly on the Virgin Media Pioneers website, www.virginmediapioneers.com and here on the High Position blog. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for the latest developments and online marketing news.
